What is Making Amends in Recovery?
Although you’ve made mistakes, it doesn’t mean you are a bad person and you are unworthy of love. If you need evidence, consider the fact that you’re working so hard to change and to become a better individual. Remember, this is a Twelve Step process that can provide a platform for healing, but the person we are reaching out to may not be at the same place in healing as we are. We are only in control of our part—making and living the amends. As with alcohol and other drugs, we are also powerless over other people.

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — After just opening a women and children’s home last month in McPherson, addiction recovery-housing organization, Oxford House is in the final stages of opening a men’s home in the same area. Though founded in 1975, Oxford House underwent a transformation in 1997 during a comprehensive restructure. The national non-profit organization created an independent Board of Directors and World Council by electing residents and alumni from around the United States. These boards recruited experienced leadership to work with these resident-committees to develop new strategies for growth and program excellence. Oxford House, Inc. is a publicly supported, non-profit 501 corporation and is the umbrella organization providing the network connecting all Oxford Houses. OHI allocates resources to duplicate the Oxford House concept where needs arise.
Oxford Houses of Virginia
Oxford House is a publicly supported, non-profit network connecting all Oxford House recovery homes or sober houses. Oxford House sober living is a concept in recovery for a democratically run, self-supporting and drug free home. Homes range from six to fifteen; there is sober living for men, sober houses for women, and what is an oxford house some recovery homes for women with children. The Oxford House concept is to sustain self-run and self-supported recovery homes for men and women in recovery from drug and alcohol addiction.
